Do to circumstances that I don't want to relate, I managed to see Hayao Miyazaki's newest film, "Ponyo on the Cliff (by the sea)"
it was an EXCELLENT film, with some of the smoothest animation an anime has ever had. Seriously... everything was so flowy and awesome. I enjoyed it greatly,
though... I couldn't understand a single thing anyone said (except for maybe kawaii and genki.. and Fujimoto)
and it was subtitled in Chinese..... so I really had no idea at what was going on. If it wasn't for me reading the wikipedia article and various character sheets. I'd be completely lost. However, I do know for a fact that....
I Fujimoto
I'm not even sure what he was exactly, other than the fact that he was Ponyo's dad. But he was just so...... nicely animated, and he had a sort of "aged rockstar" quality to him. But without the beer belly and blood transfusions.
Anyways, I hope to see this thing in the theaters, complete with english dub, so I can fully appreciate the film.
"Woe is meeee" I like this style. But I wouldn't call anything Miyazaki "anime." That IS the term for animation in general in Japan, I think, but I think the connotation that the word "anime" evokes overseas is really different from what Miyazaki does.
do you get Fujimoto yet?
... i made a comic thing making fun of him, cuz he, and all other miyazaki dudes, is such a creeper in a way...
